I took Domino to a UKC show the weekend before his AKC debut, to see how things would go, and give him a “warm up show” before we headed out on our roadtrip.
We had fun, spent time with friends, made some new ones, and got to play with the blue puppy a bit in the ring, and got a lot of one on one time with him. He did good…it was hot, the grass was as tall as he was, and he decided he needed to squiggle and wiggle and squirm on the table for the judges because he LOVED them soooooooooo much and they really must need to pet his belly, after all!! But, the point of UKC is having fun, and I had fun with my puppy, even if the judges didnt like him. He was BOB x 4, and dead last in the Group all 4 shows. But thats ok, because I still think he is fabulous, and that is all that really matters in the end. He will grow up a bit, and next time, we will try an indoor show, where the judges will be able to actually not only SEE the dogs movement, but actually see the dog period. (I’m not joking when I say that the grass is as tall as he is!!)
He does, however, have 100 points, and just needs him competition wins to finish his UKC Championship.
